The Mikrotik RouterOS

June 23, 2011

The Mikrotik RouterOS is a Linux-based operating system that lets users turn selected PC, MIPS or Power PC based machines into a full-featured router. This allows features such as firewall rules, VPN server and client, bandwidth shaper, wireless access point and other commonly used features for routing and connecting networks together. MikroTikis, the company, provides wireless ISP systems for Internet connectivity in many countries around the world.

Licensed in escalating levels, more of the available RouterOS is released as the level number rises. The RouterOS is combined with the RouterBOARD and marketed at small to medium sized wireless Internet service providers to provide broadband wireless access in remote areas.
