Of K3B and MythTV

July 29, 2008

K3B comes close to being an even match to Nero which can rip, burn, author, and back-up both CDs and DVDs. It allows users to rip or copy CDs and DVDs, format and erase rewritable DVDs and CDs, burn CDs and DVDs, .iso image files to discs, create audio CDs, video DVDs and data discs in both formats.

MythTV, on the other hand, replaces Windows Media Center. It does the job of building a user’s Linux-based digital video recorder as it supports a number of popular video capture cards, including HDTV versions and remote controls. The installation and configuration of MythTV is not for Linux newcomers. Mythbuntu, an Ubuntu Linux variant, can sidestep much of the process as it comes with pre-installed MythTV.
