OpenSource GNUPanel want replaces CPanel and WHM
October 9, 2007
First of all: What is GNUPanel?
GNUPanel is hosting control panel software with an interface written in PHP and an engine that works with Debian Operating System at 32bit or 64 bit. It is called GNUPanel because is published under the GNU General Public License. With this software you can manage your hosting plans and ticket system for helpdesk support. You can create DNS, Apache Vhost configuration files, Pop3 Email Accounts and FTP accounts. You can use PostgreSQL or MySQL. It also integrates a php interface to manage Paypal transaction automatically.
It runs on every Debian with these software requirements:
- Apache2
- PowerDNS
- Proftpd
- Postfix
- Courier-pop /ssl
- Courier-imap /ssl
- Squirrelmail
- Mailman
- PostgreSQL 8.1
- MySQL 5
- PHP5
As important features it also include a fantastico like software to make easier installation of the most important PHP Scripts such as Joomla, phpBB, Wordpress and osCommerce.
Now we could explain the good news that developer of GNUPanel announced!
GNUPanel developer was contacted by Tim Post that wrote to Richard Stallman because he thinks that with GNUPanel, hosting companies could use an OpenSource platform as replacement for Commercial Software. Most important commercial software that makes GNUPanel jobs are: Cpanel / WHM, Plesk and much more.
As Linux Server Administrator I hope that this OpenSource solution will be a standard solution for every Administrator of Linux Server Based on Debian.
Why they choose debian? I think because Debian is only Linux System with a good GNU philosophy
