HDR Photos on Linux Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 with QtpfsGUI

December 22, 2007

Have you ever seen HDR photos?

The meaning of HDR is High Dynamic Range Imaging. This technology of image manipulation is produced using a range of exposured photos. In fact if you have a good Digital Camera, you can make some shots with different Exposure Levels. HDR Image Generation produce only one picture from your images with different exposure levels.
Using HDR you can see many good effects from your photos.

What are requirements?

You must have a good photocamera with tripod and setup it to make photos with different exposure levels.
On Linux, you must have a software to generate HDR images. QtpfsGUI is good for you!
On Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 you must type by shell:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qtpfsgui

Now you can start it from Application Menù

To make you an example, I took 3 shots with my Nikon Coolpix 995 using these value of Exposure -2EV 0EV +2EV.
