Being an operating system that has the most gain in offering free trials and demonstrations without regard to sales or copyrights, Linux holds the distinction of providing a system where most LiveDistros are based. Others have joined the bandwagon by using the term LiveDistros for their respective operating systems. A number of Windows-based utilities resemble and function very much like LiveDistros.
Linux Live CDs were designed to run without installation onto other media such as the hard disk drive. LiveDistros were meant to promote Linux while showcasing the abilities of the free, open-source operating system on conventional personal computer where Microsoft Windows have already been installed.
