Linux Vixta vs Vista as Lindows vs Windows?

October 17, 2007

Vixta is a Linux Distribution based on the famous Fedora. Project is born to make a Linux Distro user friendly. They starts his job using the name Vixta copying the attractive look of Aero Theme Design. This screenshot show the look of Vixta Desktop.

In my opinion, there is a problem with the name they used for this project. Certainly people remember the famous Lindows Distro. Name Lindows makes problems with Microsoft. Now, also Vixta could makes the same problems. In these days we have seen how Mr Bill try to fight Linux and Open Source Software. Are we waiting for another Legal Dispute?
Also, I think that this project not is very useful because there are many ways to take the same design in every linux distro. If you want Vista attractive looks, you have to install Aero theme design, icons similar to Vista and for few window effects you can install Beryl Manager.
For icons and themes you can download it from gnome-look.org if you use Gnome as Desktop Manager or kde-look.org if you use KDE.
This project is only another project that use a brand to became famous. Want Linux Users an original distro or a free copy of Microsoft Windows Look?
