October 31, 2007

What is SimDock?
SimDock is an italian project which supports many cool graphic effects without X compositing configured.
It is developed to make best performance in Gnome desktop, so Ubuntu Gutsy Users can use it, but is also possible to use it on Kubuntu and other Linux Desktop with KDE as Destkop Environment. SimDock use GConf to store its settings. It use wxWidget library so SimDock became Desktop Indipendent.
You can download SimDock 1.2 as RPM or DEB sources from SourceForge.

I’m use Gutsy now. But simdock 1.2 can not use on Gutsy. Any solution?
No problem, I will post a good tutorial to configure simdock on ubuntu gutsy 7.10. I hope you will promote my blog and make it your favorite Technorati.
bye, thank you for comment.
I will update you with more information
I have installed simdock 1.2 on my xubuntu. I have also installed wxWidgets. I have a strange brown rectangle in front of the dock. If anybody have a solution of the problem?
Where is the tutorial admin dude?
Dude..!?
I need the tutorial, Dude..
Please…
Listen, it’s not hard to install SimDock… However, Avant Window Navigator is much better! Look that up instead.
Guys. I got it! It’s just an issue with the version of the library. Try this:
1. #cd /usr/lib
2. #sudo ln -s libwnck-1.so.22 libwnck-1.so.18
That’s all you need to do.
Now you can run `simdock` without any problem.
Enjoy.
